Paul's Picks - November 13-16, 2014

Winter is definitely setting in...

As I write this, dark is looming at 5:00PM and the temperature has dropped to a nearly crippling 55 degrees with a gloomy drizzle...  Yes - it's winter time. We've had a long run of great outdoor concerts and now is the time for our local indoor venues to shine!

I'd like to say that Todd & Korie Newman did a fantastic job on their first 2 sold out shows for Good Medicine Presents at the Fremont Theatre.  Michael Franti and Ziggy Marley in downtown SLO just 2 days apart... Wow!  Both fantastic shows - different but great.  Good Medicine will continue to bring tons of great music to SLO - keep up with them here on their BIG BIG SLO page.

With the outdoor season coming to a close, this Saturday is your last chance to catch a show at the Santa Barbara Bowl.  Foster the People will be playing Saturday, and it looks like there are still some tickets left.  Our friends at Nederlander Concerts are brewing up great lineups for 2015 for both Vina Robles Amphitheatre and Santa Barbara Bowl.   Be on the lookout for some sneak peeks of the upcoming season here.

Tonight we've got a special concert with Erin Inglish & Dylan Johnson at the Shell Cafe in Pismo.  Friday is a little light, so you may want to save your energy for a big Saturday:  SLO Brew has the Moonshiner Collective (Dan Curcio of Still Time), with the Dead Winter Carpenters opening.  Castoro Cellars in Templeton has a great show - SLO Folks presents Jude Johnstone, with special guests Bob Liepmman and Sal Garza. (you can also catch them at Coalesce in Morro Bay Friday night.)

A couple of daytime events:  Saturday in Baywood Park has a great little neighborhood art show - The Art of 5th Street!  It features Tom Applegate (recently featured in the Morro Bay Surfboard Art Show), Sandra Shultz, Shelley Myers, Ted Emrick, and more.  There will be treats, great art for sale, art giveaways,  and an opportunity to meet some really fun people.

Sunday has the first ever Vinyl Record Swap at the SLO Grange Hall.  Spearheaded by Manuel Barba and Malik Thorne, this super fun is a must-do for anyone who loves vinyl.

Catch the details on all these events & more on the Upcoming Events page

Be safe & have fun - see you at the party!
