Paul's Picks! April 10, 2015

Paul's Picks!

Big day on the Central Coast music scene!  Today, Vina Robles Amphitheatre opens its 3rd season with a great show featuring Dark Star Orchestra.  If you're not familiar with Dark Star, they're a Grateful Dead tribute band who do a fantastic job picking a previous Dead show and replicating it.  Head on out to Vina Robles tonight if you can!

Also tonight, we've got some fun stuff happening out at the coast.  The Blue Sky Bistro in Morro Bay has being doing great with their Friday night concerts.  Go check them out tonight from 6:00 - 8:00 for Lenny Blue, a local favorite.  NEW - out In Los Osos:  Beach Hut Deli (right next to Ralphs's) has a new concert series on Fridays - "Suds & Sounds"!  This is a family friendly concert with great food and great beer specials.  Tonight's concert goes from 6:30 - 9:30 featuring Boomer, with the ripping surf guitar sounds of Steve Conrad.  Check it out - it will become a hot spot for Los Osos live music.

Saturday night has 90's rockers Built to Spill at SLO Brew, and for a little less refined experience, head on out to Baywood Park's classic "dive bar" the Merrimaker for Captain Nasty, who always serve up a bunch of fun.

Ira Glass, public radio's favorite show host (of This American Life) will be out at the Performing Arts Center on Sunday from 12:0 - 3:00.  His show will focus on "reinventing radio", and will include a special Q & A session.

Of note next week:

Monday: Baywood Park's new Beer at the Pier Concert Series has quickly grown into a fantastic "don't miss" community event.  It goes from 5:00 to 7:00, features a great eclectic variety of music, and great specials on cold beers and hot coffee. They're even introducing a BBQ so you can enjoy your dinner along with your friends as the sun sets over the bay.

Tuesday: Steely Dan at Vina Robles  Also  - a great show at the PAC with Lila Downs!

Friday:  3 Great shows:  Jeff Bridges at the Fremont,  Cuban artist Adonis Puentes performs at the PAC (Spanos Theatre), and Central Coast Arts International presents the 1st Annual SLO Multicultural Music & Dance Showcase out at the Grange Hall.  The show also happens on Saturday if you can't make the Friday slot.

Good luck keeping up with all the fun around here this weekend & next week.  Be sure to keep an eye out on our Facebook and Instagram pages for some great ticket giveaways!

Cheers!
