Come celebrate the release of Ynana Rose’s debut CD! Local singer/songwriter Ynana Rose's self-titled debut album was recorded earlier this year by Damon Castillo at his Laurel Lane Studios in SLO. The album was co-produced by Rose and Castillo. A finely crafted offering to the folk music genre, "Ynana Rose" features 11 songs (9 written by Rose, one by local songwriter Steve Key, and one by Dolly Parton) and features a wide range of style and theme. "Being a solo artist," says Rose, "left a lot of room for creativity. Each song was a blank slate. Damon & I got to brainstorm about how best to bring it to life, and then bring the musicians in to the studio to help us do that." This process led them to collaborate with roughly 20 musicians, many local and several from out of the area. "It was a wonderful, steep learning curve. To hear musicians that you admire so much bring your songs to life is just an amazing experience."
A veteran performer and former lead singer with the local honky-tonk country and western swing band The Swingin' Doors, Ynana draws inspiration from Gillian Welch, Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, Corinne West, Eddie Vedder and more. Her original music blends elements of folk, bluegrass, country and jazz, sung in a truly soulful voice that crosses genres with ease. “Ynana Rose,” is her first album.
