THE RISING SUNS

The Rising Suns are a four-piece band dedicated to presenting classical songs from the golden age of rock n’ roll 1964-67. From the advent of the Beatles in January of ’64 up to the release of Sgt. Pepper’s in June of ’67, one of the most joyous periods in musical history took place.  The sounds of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Animals, Zombies, Lovin’ Spoonful, Rascals and Motown took over the airwaves and electrified the world.  The Rising Suns bring the spirit of those days to each performance. Fun and dancing are the goals while a good time is guaranteed.

Band leader Jim Conroy is well known to the Central Coast for his varied musical and acting appearances throughout the years  He is the cool part of Burning, Bad & Cool and his new solo cd “Magical Door” was awarded 2nd. place for album of the year by New Times 2018 Music Awards.  Here’s what Jim has to say about the Rising Suns, “1964 is the year I came into the musical world with my first gig and I lived those times.  Recently, I felt the desire to re-visit that music and so the Suns came up.  It’s not surprising that those songs and energy are still so strong and it’s a pleasure to see people light up when they hear them.”  With Jim are Bruce Beck (3 Martini Lunch) on keyboards, Mike Gruwell (ZZah) on bass, and Greg Astle who actually played with the Righteous Brothers on drums.
