Baywood Junefest: Sunday, June 9, 2019!

One of the greatest free music festivals on the Central Coast!  Clear your calendar and let's spend a glorious day together in the lush gardens of the beautiful bayside Back Bay Inn in Baywood Park! This year’s festival looks to be one of the best lineups yet. Read on:

  • Food & Drink: No outside food & drink. The Back Bay Cafe / Blue Heron will have great food & drink for sale.

  • Chairs: Please bring your own low-backed chair. Please be sure to leave ample room to dance when selecting a location fro your chairs.

the Lineup:

2:00 - drive-In romeos

A Rockin’ Rhythm & Blues band from the West Coast of California. The sound is influenced from 1940s through early ‘60s artists such as Joe Turner, Chuck Berry, Jackie Wilson & Ritchie Valens.  The band plays a heavy sway of original songs styled after early Roots Rockin’ Rhythm & Blues.  The band is always dressed to impress and executes a Rockin’ Rhythm & Style Show during each and every performance.  

The band brings a unique sound from a talented group of musicians and vocalists that come from a wide range of inspirations such as Gospel, Rockabilly, Rock n Roll, Swing and Rhythm & Blues.  Drive-In Romeos has shared the stage with Grammy Award winning artists such as Los Lobos, The Mavericks and have also performed at many California music festivals including Live Oak Music Festival and California Whiskey Fest. 
 
The band features Don Gonzales Jr. -Lead Vocals/Guitar/Arranger/Writer, Mike Gonzales - Drums/Backup Vocals, Mark Garza – Electric & Upright Bass, Ray Williams – Tenor Saxophone,  Isaiah Estrada – Baritone Saxophone, Sandra Sapone – Vocalist, Amando Perez - Vocals/Drums, Lee Orlick – Guitar. Drive-In Romeos is known to pack the house and always keep the dance floor swinging for people of all ages. Take a peek:


3:45 - stoneflys

Stoneflys are an original alternative/ska/reggae/jazz group of musicians formed out of Ventura, Santa Barbara, Santa Paula,and Kernville, California. The group is made up of six members: Guy Jeans (Vocals and Keytar), (TK)-Tracy Kahanamoku (Bass), Robert Rachelli (Drums), Fili Landeros (Keys and Dub Stuff), Dave Price (Sax), and (Skabone) - Stan Middleton (Trombone). Members met while writing and performing music for bands like Lion I's, Papa Nata, Cruicial DBC, Trouser Trouts, and Rising Son. The Stoneflys released an album, Emergence (2013) which was recorded at Colorbox recording Studios in Ventura, CA and engineered and mastered by Jeff Evans. They just completed a 12 song recording which which was released in April 2019. "After The Shuck" goes a little deeper into different musical spectrums.

The true essence of the Stoneflys is best captured live where they are able to improvise and fully demonstrate their original brand of ska/rock/jazz, melody driven reggae, and pop. The Stoneflys have been a band and have been performing since 2013. In an effort to begin promoting new music, the Stoneflys will embark on a US western regional tour playing in a town near you. ​5:30 - Zongo All-Stars

Zongo All-Stars played their first show right here at the Back Bay Inn back in 2007 and has grown a strong and loyal fan base. Zongo has headlined every Junefest & Bayfest at the Back Bay Inn, and continues to delight audiences with their super fun, high energy blend of original Afro-Caribbean  music.  

Delivering BIG fun every time, it's no wonder they were voted Best Local Band two years in a row in the New Times Readers Poll. 

Zongo's sound is big and full with lots of horns, congas, timbales, steel drum, and the tightest rhythm section around.
