RAS DANNY & THE REGGAE ALL-STARS

Derrick “Ras Danny” Reid was inspired as a youth in Trench Town, Jamaica to follow his dreams to spread a positive message around the world. He was raised in a Christian home full of songs (and five sisters). Growing up in the birthplace of reggae, Ras Danny was in constant contact with the great influential forces of reggae and cites Bob Marley as well as Nat King Cole as most inspirational. His spiritual and unique approach to music is uplifting and educational, blending classic roots rhythms with conscious, positive lyrics.

A year after Marley’s death, Ras Danny and longtime friend, Errol Organs, organized the first Bob Marley tribute concert in Jamaica. Ras Danny, a fellow resident of Trench Town, Jamaica, first met Bob Marley when Bob began to manage Earth Disciples, Ras Danny’s band. “Bob Marley was, to me, a teacher”, reminisces Ras Danny, “When Bob Marley passed off, a group of us in Trench Town did the first Bob Marley tribute show. The next year his wife and mother joined us, and it’s been going on ever since.”

The list of performers Ras Danny has shared the stage with is a who’s who in reggae including Yami Bolo, Justin Hinds, Ken Booth, Morgan Heritage, Meditations, Michael Rose, The Itals, Israel Vibration, Wailing Souls,Culture,3rd World,Black Uhuru&Lee Scratch Perry.
